Intravenous [IV] Therapy.

IV therapy is one way to give medications to your patients.Consider the following tips before starting an IV.

Verify right patient/allergies to latex.

Inform why IV is needed.

Gather all needed supplies.

Choose non-dominant hand if possible Prep your site with gloves on.

Choose IV cath. depending on size of vein/ Medication to infuse when indicated.

Start from the hand and work up the arm.

*Please ask patient where IV is usually stated on them.*
